Kicking Up The Spray
I will update my blog, as I go out and about, hopefully coming home with a few pics to share with you.
With the Thames getting ever wider, and flooding becoming widespread around the area, I ventured over into the Henley area to see how things were. It really was a lot worse than I had anticipated, with fields flooded for some considerable distance either side of the river. Starting out at Remenham Church, walking to Aston, I took some photos along the way, never being able to get anywhere near the banks of the river due to the flooding.
As you can see it was a lovely day with blue sky and sunshine, which is always a plus point for me, when out for a walk.

This is usually many acres of field, rather than an extension of the Thames. If you look very closely you can see the moon in the sky at the top right hand corner. The river is way, away in the distance.

We had the traditional trip down to Brooklands for their New Year's Day gathering. The museum's staff and volunteers had put in a lot of hard work to get the Museum open again after their recent flooding, so many thanks to them for all their efforts to make the day possible. The weather was not great on the day, torrential rain, gusting winds and a damp chill in the air, so I wasn't expecting much of a turn out of classic cars, but was very pleasantly surprised by how many people had made the effort to bring their pride and joys out in the appalling conditions.
Obviously the classic car owners are a hardy bunch, and it just demonstrates the tremendously loyal following that Brooklands has. There really were some lovely classics on display, but let us just hope that the weather improves for the other events at Brooklands later in the year.

The cars parked around the historic banking

The puddles soon began to increase in size, as the day went on.

They came in all colours.

Back To The Future Cars

Gorgeous early Aston.

A little bit of French style on the banking.

One of my favourite vehicles on show, which demonstrates that it is not always the rarest, or valuable, or pristine that appeals to us the most. Just loved the patinated look of this van.

Festive decorations are not only for the Christmas Tree!

The rain kept falling, and the water kept running off the cars.

Wet Aston badge.

E-Type Headlight.

Leaping Big Cat.

Yellow MG in the rain.

All belted in.

Looks almost human doesn't it?

Modern Morgan looking menacing.
Went for a walk round the Tower Bridge area of London on Dec 29th. Started out at lunchtime and stayed until it got dark. Once again wanted to have a look at the different architecture, as well as seeing how it changed when the lights came on as the natural light faded away.
Windows MeetingTwo different architectural styles meeting.
Zig ZagAdjacent window styles on the same building.
The ShardA part of the mighty Shard, alongside its neighbour.
Hays GalleriaAll lines lead to the shops!
Confusing The EyeSee if you can work out how this lot all fits together!
Shaped SparA subtle change of direction of the glass, means that two different buildings are reflected.
Walking Hand In HandThe sun was very low in the sky as you can see by the long shadows cast by the two pedestrians in the alleyway.
Still BuildingThe construction industry is still working flat out to make more landmark buildings.
Boat WaitingThe river is still very much in use to transport people about.
Look In The DistanceCanary Wharf in the far distance with lights ablaze.
Tower Bridge Lit UpPlenty of electricity being used.
The ScoopA very photographic curve around this area.
Blue LightsLots of blue lights to highlight the handrail.
Different TimesJust a few years between the oldest and newest architecture on show here.
Had a stroll around Maidenhead Town Centre today for a couple of hours. Mostly concentrated on the variety of buildings there, both old and new. Like most towns it is constantly changing, so thought it would be a good idea to have a proper look at the variety of architecture currently standing. The sun was shining with a lovely blue sky, but was much colder than first thought with an icy wind blowing.
Rows Of WindowsNot all the buildings are pretty to look at, but still have a style all of their own.
Corner ViewFair to say this building was designed with a straight edge.
Paving In Low LightA curved part of the pavement, catching the low sunlight.
Curved Brick WallI have walked past this wall on numerous occasions and not noticed the quality of the bricklaying before.
Someone At WorkWhilst I was enjoying myself to day in my free time, I was pleased to note that someone was still at work.
Between The WallThis building, with it's contrasting construction caught my eye as it appeared between the two brick walls.
Reflective LampFound this lamp above a Barber's shop in Queen Street.
Modern Above The OldI wanted to take a picture of this high rise building that has been a feature of Maidenhead's skyline, before it is transformed into apartments.
Open WindowEven on this cold day someone still wanted some fresh air.
Brickwork ShowcaseOne of the newer additions to the town.
Old GlazingThe crazing on the window tinting attracted me to this view.
